Lauren joined COFORD in July 2002. She hails from South Africa where she was employed by the Institute for Commercial Forestry Research (ICFR) as the Editor and Technology Transfer manager since 1989. The main focus of her work is to facilitate communication between researchers and the forestry industry, locally and internationally. The objective of her work is to convert scientific research findings into practical information.
Her responsibilities include the compilation, editing, design and layout of reports; web site design, development and maintenance; and the organisation of conferences, seminars and other meetings.
Her duties at COFORD include the facilitation of the transfer of research results into practice through:
Maintenance and development of the COFORD website,
Preparation of COFORD publications,
Organisation of conferences, workshops, seminars, research user groups and other methods of technology transfer,
Preparation and circulation of COFORD Connects research notes and the monthly email newsletter Forestry and Wood Update.
